1. Why do I need to install an application to download the Wimob contents?

When you click on a Wimob icon located on a website, you will be prompted to install the Wimob User Application. You may as well download it from our website www.wimob.com. On this application you will get a username & password and you will be able to configure your preferred connection between Bluetooth, Infrared or USB. Wimob will remember your selection for future downloads on any website.

2. Create a new Wimob user account

You need to create a username & password at your Wimob application by going to the User menu. You may change your password anytime.

3. Configure your preferred connection

Click on the Configuration menu and then on New. Wimob will automatically detect the available connections on your PC. Click on Next and you will be prompted to choose one. If you choose for example Bluetooth, Wimob will find all Bluetooth devices around your PC at a certain distance (depending on your Bluetooth, the range may vary between 1 and 100 meters). Select your mobile phone in the list.

On some mobile phones (i.e. Blackberry, Sharp, Samsung) you need to click on the button Pair to complete the configuration process.

4. Add other mobile phones on your Wimob

You may have several mobile phones configured on your Wimob under your username. You can add a new one clicking on New and delete it clicking on Delete.

5. Downloading content

Click on the Download button.

6. Going to related content

Select the content on the “Related items” list and the click on Download.

7. Change my profile

You may update your data anytime on the Wimob User menu.

Wimob™ Troubleshooting for Users

1. Wimob does not start when clicking on a Wimob icon

If you are browsing a website with a Wimob icon and after the click the Wimob pop-up does not open, please go to www.wimob.com and click on the Download button so that you get the last version of Wimob.

2. Can’t see the whole Wimob pop-up window.

You need a screen resolution of minimum 1024 x 768 pixels.

1. Connection problems Bluetooth (Cannot connect with my Mobile Phone)

Check if Bluetooth is activated on your mobile phone and visible for everybody.

Check that your PC has Bluetooth connectivity. If you continue having problems, you may upgrade your Bluetooth drivers to the last version available.

Please contact us if you have any other Bluetooth stacks not supported by Wimob (LINK to Contact us / Technical Service for Users), indicating the Bluetooth provider and version.

2. Connection problems IRDA (Infrared) (Cannot connect with my Mobile Phone)

Check if Infrared is activated on your mobile phone and place the Infrared port of your mobile phone facing the Infrared port of your PC.

3. Connection problems Wi-Fi (Cannot connect with my Mobile Phone)

Wi-Fi connection available soon.

4. Connection problems USB Cable (Cannot connect with my Mobile Phone)

If you have Windows Mobile on you mobile phone, make sure you have ActiveSync installed in case of XP operating systems on your PC or Windows Mobile Device Center in case of Vista.

If you have a Nokia mobile phone, make sure you have the Nokia PC Suite installed on your PC.

5. I do not receive the content on my mobile phone

If your mobile phone has run out of memory, you should delete other files (pictures, inbox emails, etc) so that you can download your Wimob content to your mobile phone.

Most of mobiles support images and videos, but some older mobile phones are not able to receive content greater than 100KB.

When mobile phones have low battery level, the Bluetooth chips are the first elements in a mobile that are going into a power save mode. In this case, the mobile phone would not receive the content.

Wimob™ Suite Starter Guide for Site Owners

1. Username register:

At www.wimob.com go to the Publishers & Bloggers section and fill in the register fields. You will receive an email with a link to activate your account.

3. Url register:

Go back to the Register window and Add your website. You will receive an email with an xml file which you should copy to the root of your website (i.e. www or html-public). Click on TICK and your url will be validated. You can add several urls on the same username. Please take into consideration that the Suite only allows one username per url simultaneously in order to avoid conflicts, but you may cancel anytime the url in one user’s Wimob list and then add it in another user’s list.

4. Upgrade your Suite rights if you wish:

Once you have registered an url, you have the Basic Suite. For having the rights of the Medium or Advanced Suite you need to upgrade using PayPal for each url. You could have different Suite rights for each url.

5. Download Suite software:

The Suite is now ready to be used at Start/Programms/Wimob/Suite. The technical requirements on your PC for using the Suite are:

  • Windows 2000, XP or Vista operating system.
  • 7,20 MB free disk space. Windows XP users might require to download extra installation package containing .Net Framework 3.0.
  • Internet connection with Internet Explorer v.6.0 or Firefox v.1.5 and above.
  • Screen resolution minimum 1024x768 pixels.

6. Open Suite:

Open SuiteOpen the application and read the instructions at Start page.

7. Create Project:

Create ProjectCreate a new Project by clicking on File/New/Project. Set the main properties, especially the URL field. The application will request username and password, as you are the only user with access to your urls. Please indicate the default background picture seen by your internet users when downloading Wimob (the file size is unlimited and the dimensions should be 377 x 674 pixels). You may include your logo or text in this background picture. The format of the background file should be gif, jpg, png or bmp. Indicate the size and color for the Wimob icon on your website. You may create as many Projects as you wish for one URL.

8. Create Group:

Create GroupCreate a new Group in this Project by clicking on File/Project/Create Group or on the Project itself with the right button. All the contents in one Group will appear in the “Related items” list on the Wimob User Application. You may create different Groups inside one Project.

9. Create Content:

Create ContentCreate a new Wimob Content in this Group by clicking on the Group itself with the right button or positioning your mouse on the Group and going to File/Project/Create Content. Please indicate the Content type and the Content file. The format of the content file should be: for images gif, jpg, png, bmp; for videos 3gp, mgp, avi, mov. You will be able to select a specific background for each content or leave the default background. The different contents belonging to a Group will appear in the “Related items” list on the Wimob User application.Create Content

10. Publish the Project:

Publish the Project Click on Project/Publish and the conversion process will start, creating a set of files for the different mobile formats.Publish the Project

11. Copy script into head section:

Insert the first part of the script into the Head section of your website.

12. Copy script into body section:

Insert the second part of the script into the Body section of your website where you want to place the Wimob icon.

13. Upload folder:

Use your usual publishing tool (i.e. ftp) to upload the folder with the converted content to the root of your website (i.e. www or html-public).

14. Allow file formats:

Check that these file formats are allowed to be downloaded from your servers: for images gif, jpg, png, bmp; for flash flv; for videos 3gp, mgp, avi, mov; for Wimob files: wmb.

15. Check:

Go to your website and click on the Wimob icon. If you don’t have the Wimob user application, you will be prompted to download it.

16. Statistics:

At the Wimob Suite, go to the Statistics menu and get the number of downloads from your web visitors. You may access the statistics as well going to http://www.wimob.com/customer/stats.

Wimob™ Suite Frequently Asked Questions for Site Owners

1. Why do I need the Wimob Suite?

The Wimob Suite software allows you to create and customize the Wimob content for your web visitors downloads. You will be able to add as many Wimob contents as you wish for your url or for several url, organising them in a tree mode. You can monitor as well the statistics of your visitors downloads.

2. Why am I not allowed to register my url?

The Suite only allows one username per url simultaneously in order to avoid conflicts, but you may cancel anytime the url in one user’s Wimob list and then add it in another user’s list. Please check if someone else in your organisation has register your url.

3. How can I buy a Medium or Advanced Suite?

Once you have registered an url, you have the Basic Suite. For having the rights of the Medium or Advanced Suite you need to upgrade using PayPal for each url. You could have different Suite rights for each url.

4. How should I design the Wimob base image/logo?

Soon you will be able to personalise the base image or logo, having Medium Suite or above. The format of the base file should be gif, jpg, png or bmp. The dimensions should be 343x79 pixels.

5. Which content formats can I use?

Now you can use video and images. Other types of content will be available soon. Please check the Suite summary table.

6. Why is the Wimob icon not displayed at my website?

You need to copy the script prepared by the Suite on your website, the first part on the Head section and the second part on the Body section.

7. Why is the content not displayed on the Wimob User Application?

You need to upload the folder with the transcoded files generated by the Wimob Suite to the root of your website (i.e. www or html-public).

8. Why is the background not displayed on the Wimob User Application?

You need to upgrade your Suite rights to the Advanced option.

9. How many downloads will my web-visitors be able to make daily?

There is no limit.

10. Why have Wimob downloads stopped working at my website?

Please check if the url has been deleted from the username register or if the license has expired.

11. Is Wimob compatible with all mobile phones?

You just need Bluetooth or Infrared or USB on your mobile phone. Please check about your specific mobile phone at www.wimob.com/support.html.

12. How can I receive Suite updates?

For the major upgrades you will automatically receive a notification proposing the upgrade.
